For the ninth consecutive year the Detroit Zoo’s annual attendance exceeds one million, with 1,363,949 guests in 2014, up from 1,304,114 in 2013.

More than 100,000 guests came for “Wild Lights” which is the Detroit Zoo’s annual holiday light display presented by Bank of America, contributing significantly to the year’s numbers.

“Good weather for most of the year, excellent attendance for Wild Lights and continued improvements in operations and facilities were all contributing factors in our robust attendance,” said Ron Kagan, Detroit Zoological Society Executive Director/CEO. “We’re grateful to our community for another great year and look forward to providing more outstanding guest experiences in 2015.”

The Cotton Family Wolf Habitat, slated to open in the spring at the Detroit Zoo, is expected to be a popular attraction, as well as its biggest Dinosauria exhibit ever is coming this summer, with 40 animatronic dinosaurs.
