With the holidays fading away into the rearview, we are struck once again to find things to do in the Metro Detroit Region. It’s time to come out of our winter caves and shake off those winter blues. Here’s your weekly list of some cool cultural (and indoor) events that we found for you to get into this weekend.

Ragù

Thursday – For those of you who enjoy food (you may or may not call yourselves foodies) this event looks like a great time. It’s a pop up restaurant serving up four types rigatoni with 4 types of interesting stewed sauces. It’s at the checker bar, which is a cool downtown venue, and there will be a DJ spinning some beats. Pasta Bowls $6, Salad and Dessert Bowls $4, no cover.

It’s Like Toys in Here

Friday – This an art opening organized by the Detroit Artists Market, and curated by Andrew Thompson that provides range of art which “captures the spirit of play, storytelling and mediated experience associated with the history of toys”. A little nostalgia via art might just be you need. Oh and it’s free.

The Anti-Freeze Blues Fest

Friday – Hey, speaking of the blues, there’s this cool blues music event featuring Lazy Lester, the legendary bluesman happening at the Magic Bag. Whether you are blues fan, or simply looking to expand your musical horizons a bit, come down to Ferndale and get down with Lester this Friday. Cost is $25.00.

Six Chamber Roulette

Friday – If you haven’t been to Go! Comedy Theatre in Ferndale than you are missing out. If you have been there, then you already know that this is surely one to make you chuckle away the winter doldrums this weekend. This show will give you a tour through the 6 styles of improv comedy.

Haute To Death

Saturday – The anything goes (well, within reason) monthly dance party at Temple Bar is back this month in full swag. A quote on their FB page pretty well sums it up. “If you’re ready to break resolutions, hearts, and perhaps a few High Life bottles, you’re in good company. Follow us to the dance floor, we’ll take care of you.” Cost is $3.
