More accolades for Detroit’s food scene as Zagat voters have ranked Detroit #3 on a list of America’s Next Hot Food Cities.

Their go-to list reads like a who’s who of recent Detroit culinary cuisine, and includes shout-outs to talented local chefs. They mention Antietam, Gold Cash Gold, Green Dot Stables, Johnny Noodle King, Mercury Burger Bar, Motor City Wine, Revolver, Rose’s Fine Food, Selden Standard, Slows Bar-B-Q, and Wright & Co. It’s interesting to note that none of those places existed just a few years ago.

From Zagat:

Detroit’s dining scene, much like the city itself, is undergoing a period of rapid transformation. The food-obsessed from the suburbs and beyond are returning to the long-beleaguered downtown areas, with a new-found curiosity for exotic cuisines, flavors and ideas. Innovative pop-ups, homegrown distilleries, urban farms and a growing number of celebrity chefs (Michael Symon, Wolfgang Puck and soon, Roy Choi) have all helped to land the city at No. 3 on our ranking.

Who was number one? Birmingham, Alabama. For the rest of the list, go here.
