Not Your Grandma’s Flea Market to Take Over Russell Street This Weekend

Play episode

With your typical assortment of attic treasures, knickknacks, fresh fruits and vegetables, Eastern Market is the go-to for perfect summer afternoons. However, shoppers, both regular and new, are in for a treat as the flea market takes on a different form for the Weekend of August 15-16.

50 unique vendors will be showcased at the indoor flea market adjoining the Detroit Mercantile Company where atypical items including artwork, jewelry, antiques, and more will be on sale in addition to the usual offerings. Not Your Grandma’s Flea Market is its name, and being the first one ever organized, they hope to be able to gain popularity and plan for more events in the future.

The market has free admission, and live entertainment and food trucks will be among the additions to the week’s market experience. There’s no telling what you’ll leave with, whether it be a great vintage find, a one-of-a-kind handmade good or even a new furry friend.

Yep, you heard it right—Home Fur Ever pet adoption will also be one of the weekend’s additions.
