Bad news for all the lovers gearing up for another Valentine’s day in the D.

According to Wallethub.com—a number crunching website that ranks cities on everything from most bars per capita to, well, this—has released a study in which Detroit landed as the worst city to spend this day.

They ranked 100 large cities in terms of 15 key metrics which included everything from how romantic a place may be, to the average meal cost at area restaurants.

So how did the D fare in love and war? Not well. Overall, Detroit landed at number 99 out of 100.

Why? Well, Wallethub says Detroit was one of the most expensive cities to spend the day (97/100), but also one of the most lacking when it comes to activities to enjoy with your beau (95/100).

We faired slightly better in the gift accessibility ranking (57/100) and weather forecast categories (21/100), so that’s a plus.

If you ask us, this study, like many of its ilk, seems to miss the mark.

Ladies, if you’re alone this Valentine’s day, I’m happy to take you out for a super fun and affordable Valentines day that you’ll never forget.

After surprising you with flowers from Eastern Market, and a little one of a kind knick knack from John King Books, we would feast on coney dogs at Red Hot’s Coney Island. After taking down two of the best coneys in town, we’d make our way over to any one of Detroit’s fine div bar establishments—probably my favorite, Tom’s Tavern—where we would sip well whiskey and discuss the finer things in life.

Cost of date for both of us? Less than $50, or $25 once you realize we’re splitting the cost of this date.

So listen up, Wallethub. Before you release another one of these lists, you better recognize the unique ability of Detroiters to make something out of nothing … and on the cheap while we’re at it.
