You are here: Home / Development / Novi Getting $15 Million In Investment, 85 New Jobs

Jul 2, 2016 by Daily Detroit Staff

The city of Novi is getting a new North American business headquarters.

Daifuku North America Holding Company plans to construct a new headquarters building in the city of Novi to benefit from “the competitive engineering talent market and robust automotive industry” in Southeast Michigan.

The project is expected to generate more than $15 million in capital investment and create 85 new jobs. They will receive a $700,000 Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant from the Michigan Strategic Fund, and the city of Novi is also providing incentives in the form of a property tax abatement. The company was looking at locations in Michigan and Ohio.

“Daifuku’s decision to establish this new facility in Michigan rather than another state means good jobs for Michigan residents and underscores the strength of the talent in the state’s automotive sector,” MEDC CEO Steve Arwood said. in a statement “Daifuku’s commitment to Michigan reflects the great advantage of locating in the capital of automotive manufacturing. We’re pleased Daifuku chose Michigan as the home for its North American headquarters.”

Daifuku North America Holding Company is a subsidiary of Daifuku Co., Ltd., a manufacturer of material handling systems. Established in 1937 in Japan, Daifuku is one of the largest material handling companies in the world.

“Novi has become an attractive location for research, technology and service providers,” said city of Novi Mayor Bob Gatt.  “Daifuku’s desire to locate here contributes to our community’s tremendous growth and vibrant spirit in support of the automotive industry.”
