re:unite at the Wright

Re:Unite At the Wright- The Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History

If you are looking for something to do with your family I suggest going to the Charles H. Wright Museum. There will be an unveiling of a sculpture by Charles McGee that is titled United We Stand. This sculpture was made to commemorate the 1967 Detroit Rebellion. This should be an impressive piece since it is twenty-foot by twenty-foot.

There will be plenty of food, activities and live performances by Detroit Poet Laureate Naomi Long Madgett, the Mosaic Youth Theatre, and Mike Ellison.

This is a free event and starts at 3:30 PM. The Charles H. Wright Museum is located at 315 East Warren Avenue in Detroit.

Detroit’s 315th Birthday Celebration – TV Lounge

The TV Lounge has partnered with Raise the Deep to throw Detroit a birthday party. The event will be on Sunday July 24. There will be a BBQ and the day will be filled with live music. Go hang out and listen to Chuck Daniels, Rex Sepulveda, Loren, Rebecca Goldberg, Aran Daniels, and Mister Joshooa.

The party starts at 3:00 PM and will go until 2:00 AM. Since this is a bar the event is 21 and over.
