Capitol Park To Get A New Pet Boutique, City Bark

You are here: Home / Business / Capitol Park To Get A New Pet Boutique, City Bark

Oct 5, 2016 by Daily Detroit Staff

Thai food. Coffee shop. A second coffee shop. Nail boutique. Bike store. Italian Restaurant. Now, Capitol Park is getting a pet boutique.

At 1214 Griswold in a recently renovated building, The Albert, the pet supplies store City Bark is opening a second location.

City Bark sells American-made pet products with their first store being in Grosse Pointe. The 1,250-square-foot Detroit location will be larger than their place in the suburbs, and they aim to keep their boutique feel while expanding their offerings to fit the pet supply needs of the immediate community.

They offer a pet food delivery service and will expand their areas of service for the new location.

“Our mission is to offer products and services that make owning a pet more convenient and enjoyable,” said Jamie Judson, co-founder of City Bark. “The Albert is a natural fit for our new location because it allows us to bring our knowledge to a new market, while promoting other local businesses and organizations throughout the city.”

Judson selected The Albert in Detroit’s Capitol Park as City Bark’s new location for the building’s convenient pet-friendly policy, close proximity to multiple Detroit communities and, the “momentum happening downtown.”

City Bark is to be located between Dessert Oasis Coffee Roasters and the newly announced La Lanterna. Partnering with area businesses, City Bark will host vaccination clinics, grooming services, training and pet owner education classes. They are also hoping to raise awareness for local animal rescue organizations and will host adoption events on a regular basis.

The shop plans to open in the early part of 2017.
