Young Poets To Compete For A Spot At The 2017 Detroit Youth Poetry Slam Team Thursday Night

This Thursday Citywide Poets and InsideOut Literary Arts will be hosting the 2017 Detroit Youth Poetry Grand Slam at Trinosophes in Eastern Market.

The Grand Slam is the final round of competition for twelve Detroit youth who are trying to get a spot on the 2017 Detroit Youth Poetry Slam Team.

The five finalists will attend the Louder Than a Bomb: The Michigan Youth Poetry Festival in May. The festival will be held in Detroit, and there will be over 200 high school students from around the state in attendance.

The team will also be heading to San Francisco, California to represent the city of Detroit in Brave New Voices in July.

If you are interested in attending the Grand Slam doors open at 5:00 p.m. There is a suggested donation of $5, however no one will be turned away at the door if they don’t have the money.

Trinosophes is located at 1464 Gratiot Avenue Detroit, Michigan 48207. There is a free parking lot in the rear of the building.
