Where has this summer gone? If you are at all like me you’re a little mad that stores have started getting the shelves stocked with fall items. We still have August to enjoy, and let’s make the most of it.

This weekend is chocked full of cool things happening, so enjoy your weekend!

Livernois “Jazz on the Ave”

If you haven’t been to the Avenue of Fashion lately, I suggest checking it out because it is hopping. In fact, I think you should go this Saturday for Livernois “Jazz on the Ave.”

There will be musical performances throughout the day, plus many of the stores and restaurants will be having specials.

Stop into Dcreated Boutique for homemade ice cream during the old school ice cream social.

Jazz on the Ave will start at 11:00 a.m. and will go until 9:00 p.m. The Avenue of Fashion is basically on Livernois between 7 and 8 Mile.

Michigan Renaissance Festival Kick-Off Party

I rarely get to write about the Michigan Renaissance Festival since it is located in Holly. However, I can write about the Michigan Renaissance Festival Kick-Off Party since it is being held in Shed 5 of Eastern Market.

The Kick-Off party will have Festival entertainers, vendors and food available for purchase.

If you’re planning on going to the Renaissance Festival this year I suggest heading down to this event because it is the only place you’ll be able to get buy one get one tickets to the festival.

The party will be going from 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

Eastern Market is located on Russell Street.

Some of the stops around the island are; The Detroit Boat Club, The Dossin Museum, the Aquarium, the Nature Center, and the Conservatory.

At 10:00 a.m the Mayor’s Cup Rowing Race will take place between the Detroit Boat Club Crew and the Canadian team.

There will also be a boat show, so take the time out to check out some antique and classic boats.

Did I mention that this is taking place in the Detroit Boat Club?

There is a fee of $5 per person or $15 for a group of four. This fee includes the Belle Isle Family Fun Passport, all of the activities, a picnic lunch and a prize for the first 200 people.

Hours- 10:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.

The Detroit Boat Club is located on Belle Isle on East Picnic Way.

Just a reminder that you will need a recreation passport to get onto Belle Isle.

Pig Roast & Luau

Feel like getting away for a nice Hawaiian vacation, but don’t have the time or funds to get there? Maybe a tropical beverage will help relax you from your everyday stress.

If this sounds like you, then it’s time to get your Tiki attire on and go to The Sugar House Pig Roast and Luau this Sunday.

There will be a pig roasted on the patio and a nice selection of Tiki drinks on the menu.

The party starts at 3:00 p.m on Sunday.

Sugar House is located at 2130 Michigan Avenue in Detroit.

Charivari Detroit

This weekend is Charivari Detroit, which is a three-day electronic music festival. This is the forth year for the EDM festival.

The festival will have over 50 DJ’s spinning all forms of electronic music across three stages.
