Brix Wine Bar & Charcuterie Opening This Weekend With Three Nights Of Tastings

Three nights of fun are ahead at a new wine bar in a cool building that was an old bank.

Brix Wine & Charcuterie Boutique is having their soft opening this weekend, and there will celebrations for the public on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.

An 1,100 square foot space that you enter from the back of the building, it adds yet another place to go in the quickly growing West Village area.

Brix is another story of an area resident returning after being in another city start a business.

Co-owner Mikiah Westbrooks knew she ultimately wanted to open a wine bar in her hometown of Detroit, even while she was away working in the marketing industry in New York City.

It won’t be just a bar – eventually, there will be a retail wine component.

The project received support from TechTown Detroit’s SWOT City program and Motor City Match awarded Brix $32,000 in April 2016.

Westbrooks also received support from Rebrand Cities and the Michigan Women’s Foundation.

“I am so grateful to Motor City Match, TechTown Detroit, Rebrand Cities and the Michigan Women’s Foundation. Their continued support and commitment to small businesses in Detroit is part of the reason Brix is a reality,” said Westbrooks.

Here are the details on the tastings this weekend.

Thursday, August 17: 4pm-1am: Free wine tasting with Joseph Carr wines along with a limited charcuterie menu.

Friday, August 18: 4pm-1am: Free Italian wine tasting along with a limited charcuterie menu.
Saturday, August 19: 4pm-1am: Free rosé tasting sponsored by Great Lakes Wine and Spirits.
The normal hours for the operation will be 4pm–1am, Thursday through Saturday. The plan is to be open more hours in the near future.
Brix is located at 7968 Kercheval Avenue in Detroit.
