There are two restaurants that are the top of the pecking order when it comes to independent places in Michigan for 2017, as measured by sales of food and alcohol.

And they’re both in the same city.

A new list of the top 100 independent restaurants nationally by Restaurant Business Online places Zehnder’s of Frankenmuth at number 66 and the Frankenmuth Bavarian Inn in the 72nd spot.

Zehnder’s, according to the site, served 945,364 meals at their 80,000 square foot, 1,100 square foot location and raked in $15,083,189 in sales.

Frankenmuth Bavarian Inn pulled in $14,677,690 in sales across 847,585 meals served at the 90,00 square foot, 1,200 seat restaurant.

The average per-person check amounts at each place, especially when compared to the rest of the list, are reasonable $16 and $17 respectively.

The top-selling restaurant in the country? Well, that’s in Las Vegas. Tao Las Vegas did $42,470,345 in sales on an average check of $90.
