Olympia Announces Yet Another District Detroit Development: $30m With 730 Parking Spaces

Play episode

Word came over the press wires that Olympia Development has begun construction of a new $30 million building on Temple Street in the District Detroit (or as we’ve always called it around the office, Ilitch Village).

If you’re not familiar, that’s the 50 or so block area around the new Little Caesars Arena that’s seeing a ton of new investment and development, including the addition of Google as a tenant.

The development will be mixed use, meaning there will a combination of retail, parking, and either office or residential space.

The 730 spaces will help serve the arena and the new Wayne State University Mike Ilitch School of Business (here’s a tour of that, if you’re interested). The plan is that there will be 3,600 square feet of retail.

Expect more announcements in the future.

“As we move into 2018, we continue to make incredible progress on a wide variety of projects that will support a vibrant work, live and play sports and entertainment district for our community to enjoy,” said Travis Arbogast, Vice President of Development at Olympia Development of Michigan. “With much more development to be announced in The District Detroit in the coming months, our vision is taking shape more each day.”
