Play episode

Well, I guess winter finally decided to show up this week. I hope you are all saying safe and warm out there.

This weekend is filled with a ton of fun things to do, and most of them are pretty inexpensive.

Have a good weekend everyone!

My Brightest Diamond at El Club

Holy cow, you guys. If you don’t have plans on Friday night you need to go see My Brightest Diamond at El Club.

Shara Nova’s musical stylings are hard to describe, all I can say is her voice is intoxicating. Also, whenever there is flute, piccolo or a marching band in the mix it makes me excited.

Tickets are $15 and you can purchase them here.

The show starts at 8 p.m.

El Club is located at 4114 Vernor Highway Detroit, Michigan 48209

Santa at the Fisher Building

Santa will be taking a little rest bit at the historic Fisher Building this Saturday. If you have yet to take the kiddos to see Santa this season this is the perfect opportunity.

Plus, can you get a prettier backdrop? I think not.

Did I mention that it’s free? Take as many pictures on your phone or camera that you’d like.

Speaking of the Fisher Building, did you see our newest list of places to shop inside the Fisher?

When: Saturday, December 16 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

The Fisher Building is located at 3011 W. Grand Boulevard Detroit, Michigan 48202

Woodward Throwbacks and Revolver presents Hamtramck Open Market

Still need to do some shopping for friends and loved ones? Might I suggest the Hamtramck Open Market this Saturday.

Woodward Throwbacks will be opening up their new location and hosting 40 local makers, food, and drinks from Hamtramck and Detroit.

Closing Reception and Benefit for Dabls’ African Bead Museum

One of the most interesting museums I have ever been to is Dabls’ African Bead Museum on Grand River.

They will be having a closing reception and benefit on Saturday at the Wasserman Projects to help build awareness for the current fundraising campaign for the African Bead museum.

There will be a panel discussion with the Museum Director Olayami Dabls, Detroit Director of Planning and Development Maurice Cox, and LA/Detroit based architect Lorcan O’Herlihy.

There will also be a live auction and live performances.

The event is free, however donations are always welcome. You will also need to register in advance.

When: Saturday, December 16 from 4 p.m.-8 p.m.

Where: Wasserman Projects 3434 Russell Street #502 Detroit, MI 48207

Raven Lounge Annual Xmas Party

The Raven Lounge is world renowned for the live blues music that haas been performed there.

This Sunday, December 17 is no exception. They will be hosting their annual Raven Lounge Xmas Party.

Chuck CJ Styles Jackson and The Nevada Smyth Band and Special Guests will be performing that night.

There will be food, gifts, raffle and more.

Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door.
