Brush Park Just Got A Bit Sweeter Thanks To “For The Love Of Sugar”

You are here: Home / City Of Detroit / Brush Park Just Got A Bit Sweeter Thanks To “For The Love Of Sugar”

Dec 19, 2017 by Shianne Nocerini

If you’re looking for a new cute spot to grab a slice of cake or a box of macarons, we have just the place for you.

Last night For the Love of Sugar officially opened on the ground floor of The Scott at Brush Park.

We were able to check out the new cakery and cafe last night. Let me tell you, it was adorable. Not to mention the cakes are beautiful and delicious.

Manal Hussein’s background is in marketing but started experimenting with baking after watching a lot of Food Network.  Eventually found a passion for baking from scratch and creating recipes.

She turned her passion into a home business three years ago. She would make cakes for friends and family while still working a full time job. As time went on she quit her job to focus solely on her small business.

When she decided to open the brick and mortar location of For the Love of Sugar she spoke to the people at Bedrock. They in turn pointed her in the direction of Broder & Sachse and The Scott at Brush Park.

“I just love creating things,” said Hussien. “I just foresee us creating edible arts for the city of Detroit, for the metro area and to hopefully spread out farther eventually.”

Currently Hussein will be focusing on the storefront in order to make sure everything is working well before taking cake orders. As for wedding cakes, she will begin booking bridal appointments on January 2, 2018.

For the Love of Sugar is open early and closes late seven days a week. Which means you can get your sugar fix whenever the mood strikes you.

Hours: Monday-Thursday 7:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m., Friday 7:00 a.m.-11:00 p.m., Saturday 9:00 a.m-11:00 p.m., Sunday 9:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m.

For The Love of Sugar is located in The Scott at Brush Park 100 Erskine Street Detroit, Michigan 48201
