Knudsen's Bakery

Lovers of cheese danish will have to look elsewhere.

Knudsen’s Danish Bakery, which was located on West McNichols closed on Saturday, April 28.  The bakery had been in business for 95 years.

There was little fanfare to the closure from the Dimitrieski family, the owners of the bakery.

On April 29 there was a video posted on the Knudsen’s Facebook page of D & D Moving and Storage Company moving an industrial baking mixer.

It wasn’t until Thursday, May 3 that someone posted on the Knudsen’s Facebook page asking when the bakery closed.

The bakery posted on their Instagram page on Friday, which is where we read about the closure.

The post read:

“We closed doors for the last time last Saturday. It’s time for a vacation. The Dimitrieski family would like to thank the city of Detroit for all the love and support. Thank You.”

Knudsen’s was our second favorite bakery in our 17 Epic Bakeries of Detroit blog post.
