The Detroit Institute of Arts will be displaying nine new pieces of art in its “Out of the Crate: New Gifts and Purchases” gallery on July 14.

The gallery was created at the beginning of this year to show off the new artwork the museum has collected. The DIA rotates the gallery every six months.

Each piece has been selected by DIA Director Salvador Salort-Pons.

The nine pieces on display are:

  • “Woman Supreme,” 1974, Wadsworth Jarrell
  • “Bridges Over Flint,” 2016, Matthew Brandt
  • “The Madonna and Child with Saints Ignatius of Loyola, Francis Xavier, Cosmas and Damian” 1629, Andrea Sacchi
  • “Untitled,” 1984, Deborah Butterfield
  • “Book on the Life and Miracles of Saint Gabra Manfas Quedus,” early 18th century, Ethiopian, African
  • “Untitled,” 2010, Tara Donovan
  • “Biblical Fruits: Fig,” 2015, Adnan Charara
  • “Bust of Giuseppe Bossi,” 1816, Antonio Canova
  • “Spirit of ’76,” 1845, Tompkins H. Matteson

Hours: Tuesdays through Thursday 9:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m., Friday 9:00 a.m.- 10:00 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

The DIA is located at 5200 Woodward Avenue Detroit, MI 48202
