The Detroit Institute of Arts will be displaying nine new pieces of art in its “Out of the Crate: New Gifts and Purchases” gallery on July 14th.
The gallery was created at the beginning of this year to show off the new artwork the museum has collected. The DIA rotates the gallery every six months.
Each piece has been selected by DIA Director Salvador Salort-Pons.
One of the highlights of the gallery is a set of 24 photographs titled “Bridges Over Flint” by Matthew Brandt. Brandt photographed the bridges and Flint River, he then used Flint tap water, Vitamin C, bleach, and red wine to develop the photographs.
