Are you ready for the final weekend of August? I know I’m not. I think I need to take a quick trip up north or something before summer is officially over.
There are a lot of fun things happening around town this weekend.

The street fair will also have a marketplace with vendors selling food, drinks, clothing, and other items.
The fair is being hosted thanks to a partnership between the Muslim Center, HUDA Free Community Health Clinic, the HUDA Urban garden, the Detroit Repertory Theatre and the community organization Dream of Detroit.

The Weird Homes Tour
I have always been a fan of architecture, so when I heard about the Weird Homes Tour a few months back I knew I had to include it in the City 5.
The tour consists of seven quirky homes that you can go inside of and talk to the owners. The VIP package includes an additional stop at the Wheelin’ on Woodward home.
It’s a self guided, self driven tour so you can go at your own pace and take your time. I really dig it.
A portion of the proceeds from each ticket will be donated to the non-profit United Community Housing Coalition.
Tickets are $30 per person or $45 for the VIP treatment (not only do you get an additional stop but you can get a t-shirt or hat.) You can buy them here. You can buy tickets the day of, but the price goes up to $37 per person.
When: Saturday, August 25 from 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.
3rd Annual Luau and Pig Roast
Pull out those Hawaiian shirts, because it’s time to celebrate the final weekend in August with some roasted pig, awesome drinks and some Hawaiian flavor.
On Sunday the Sugar House will be hosting its 3rd Annual Luau and Pig Roast. If you’re a vegetarian they have you covered, there will be some meatless options as well.
There will be a special cocktail menu for the day to celebrate.
When: Sunday, August 26 from 3:00 p.m.-12:00 p.m.
The Sugar House is located at 2130 Michigan Avenue Detroit, Michigan 48216
This Sunday is National Dog Day, and there are two events that we highlighted this week on the Daily Detroit podcast. I just want to remind everyone that both of these events are happening on Sunday.
