Your City 5 Things To Do This Weekend In Detroit: November 2-4

You are here: Home / City 5 / Your City 5 Things To Do This Weekend In Detroit: November 2-4

Nov 1, 2018 by Shianne Nocerini

Am I the only one who is in disbelief that it is November? I swear I’m going to blink and it is going to be 2019.

Anyway, I am pretty excited for this weekend because there are so many fun things to do in Detroit. I know that I will be checking out a few of the events, so be sure to say hi if you see me around town.

Have good weekend everyone.

Boo-Con

So, Halloween might have already passed but you have one more chance to pull out your costume at Boo-Con.

Checker Bar and Pop+Offworld are throwing a little shindig on Friday night.

There will be music, karaoke, costume party, and The Vault of Midnight will be showing the Directors Cut of Vault of Trash.

The party is free to attend and sounds like a lot of fun.

Friday, November 2 from 6:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Checker Bar and Pop+Offworld are located at 124 Cadillac Square Detroit, Michigan 48226

Apropos Album Release Party

His first album will be released on Friday night and he will be having a party at DetroitWick. You can see his video of She Makes Me here.

Come out for the red carpet photos and stay for the complimentary food and drinks. There will also be a photo booth, merchandise, and a live performance of the album at 10 p.m.

There is no cover to attend the event but there is a suggested donation of $20. The event will also be a fundraiser for Empty Bowls Detroit which will benefit Cass Community Social Services. You can register here.

Friday, November 2 from 6:00 p.m.-12:00 a.m.

DetroitWick is located at 1400 Fisher Freeway Detroit, Michigan 48207

2018 Run of the Dead

So, I might not be much of a runner. Just thinking about running long distances makes my asthma kick in.

But do you know who loves to run? Sven Gustafson. So I’m going to take one of his suggestions for something to do this weekend.

Here’s what he has to say about it.

The Southwest Detroit Business Association will once again host the Run of the Dead at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 3rd. It’s a USA Track & Field-certified 5 and 10k that takes runners through two historic cemeteries to mark the Mexican Dia de los Muertos holiday in remembrance of deceased relatives and loved ones.

Race-day frills will include a live DJ, performances by students of the Center of Music & Performing Arts-Southwest and a Mariachi band, and a Zumba warmup to kick off the race. Runners are encouraged to wear traditional Day of the Dead face paint and garb. You can register here or the day of the event starting at 7 a.m.

The 5k walk/run is $35 and the 10k run is $40. You can register for both here.

Saturday, November 3 at 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

George S. Patton Park Recreation Center is located at 2301 Woodmere Detroit, MI 48209

80’s Night

Podcast Detroit will be putting on an 80’s night on Saturday night at the Detroit Shipping Company.

There will be plenty of great 80’s tunes played throughout the night. Come for the music, but stay for the Pad Thai roll from Bangkok 96 Street Food, a couple drinks and nitrogen ice cream from -320 Coffee and Creamery.

Saturday, November 2 at 8:00 p.m.-12:00 a.m.

The Detroit Shipping Company is located at 474 Peterboro Detroit, Michigan 48201

All Things Detroit

This Sunday is the third and final All Things Detroit for 2018! I can’t believe it, this year seems to have flashed before my eyes.

Like past All Things Detroit this event is sure to be a huge success. There will be food trucks and vendors selling their goods.

This is a great event to showcase the small businesses that are around metro Detroit.

So what are some of my favorite vendors this round? Jodi Lynn’s Emporium of Doodles, Motor City Creations, Motor City Barrels, and Natural Red.

Tickets are $15 if you want Beat the Crowd tickets or $5 for general admission. I suggest the Beat the Crowd tickets because it gets crowded once those doors open, plus you get some great goodies.

Sunday, November 4 from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (Doors open at 9:30 for Beat the Crowd ticket holders.)

Eastern Market is located at 2934 Russell Street Detroit, Michigan 48207
