“The Book of Mormon” Returns To Detroit’s Fisher Theatre

You are here: Home / City Of Detroit / “The Book of Mormon” Returns To Detroit’s Fisher Theatre

Dec 7, 2018 by Dan Fuoco

If you like humor from the popular four-time Emmy Award-winning animated adult cartoon series, “South Park,” you’ll be overjoyed with The Book of Mormon.

The Book of Mormon features the book, music and lyrics by Trey Parker, Matt Stone (creators of “South Park”) and Robert Lopez.

The trio has mimicked the landmark cartoon’s dry, vulgar, sarcastic comedy while depicting the real-life Mormon experiences on stage.

This opening musical is laugh-out-loud funny with an uncanny resemblance of true Mormon behavior.

Fast forward to the destination of the performance, Nikki M. James plays an optimistic young woman and love interest hoping to get ‘baptized” by one of the leading men.  Find out what happens and how they find themselves into this funny predicament.

The Book of Mormon, which has played multiple sold-out engagements, returns to Detroit’s Fisher Theatre, December 4-9. 2018. Single tickets start at $39 and go on sale Sunday, September 16.

Purchase tickets online at www.broadwayindetroit.com or www.ticketmaster.com, by phone at 800-982-2787 or at the Fisher Theatre box office.

The Book of Mormon is the winner of nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Score (Trey Parker, Robert Lopez, Matt Stone), Best Book (Trey Parker, Robert Lopez, Matt Stone), Best Direction (Casey Nicholaw, Trey Parker), Best Featured Actress (Nikki M. James), Best Scenic Design (Scott Pask), Best Lighting Design (Brian MacDevitt), Best Sound Design (Brian Ronan) and Best Orchestrations (Larry Hochman, Stephen Oremus); the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Musical; five Drama Desk Awards including Best Musical, the 2011 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album; four Outer Critics Circle Awards, including Best Musical, and the Drama League Award for Best Musical.

Performance times for The Book of Mormon appearing December 4-9, 2018 at the Fisher Theatre, located at 3011 West Grand Blvd., in Detroit are:

• Tuesday through Saturday evening performances at 8:00 p.m.

• Sunday evening performance at 7:30 p.m.

• Saturday & Sunday matinees at 2:00 p.m.

• Special open captioned performance on Friday, December 7 at 8:00 p.m.

Tickets for The Book of Mormon start at $39 (includes facility and parking fees). Tickets can be purchased online at www.broadwayindetroit.com or www.ticketmaster.com, and by phone at 800-982-2787 or at the Fisher Theatre box office.
