Comment on Ever Wanted To Turn An Old School In Detroit Into Housing? Here’s Your Chance (PICS) by Paul Martinsky http://www.dailydetroit.com/2017/03/22/ever-wanted-turn-old-school-detroit-housing-heres-chance-pics/#comment-22365 Thu, 23 Mar 2017 11:54:20 +0000 http://www.dailydetroit.com/?p=34917#comment-22365 Such a great development for the 48212 area, south of E.McNichols, of NED(Northeast Detroit). The 48212 area along 6 Mile extends from I-75 to Van Dyke. There are many possibilities for development, especially since the area has many ameniities. Some of Detroit’s best public transit routes are nearby such as DDOT#95-RYAN EXPRESS that takes you Downtown during am & pm peak hours, DDOT#12-CONANT that goes to and through Belle Isle State Park, DDOT#32-McNichols goes east to Grosse Pointe border and west to Old Redford. There are other great routes too. For maps & schedules — http://www.detroitmi.gov/How-Do-I/Locate-Transportation/Bus-Schedules.
The area also has two city parks, a recreation center, public library, many schools, and worship centers for most world religions including a Hindu Temple on 6 Mile. A few popular restaurants are nearby as well as a bank, doctors office, retail stores such as Dollar General, and auto repair shops. Blight is still a problem on some blocks such as the well travled enroute Ryan Road. The area’s two parks are at the foot of Ryan, south of 6 Mile at Luce. Many city residents use Ryan Road for walking to the parks, the library on Conant, bus stops, and area schools, including Pershing HS to the north. It is common to see people riding bicycles along Ryan. Motorists drive thru it daily, including EMS, Police, Fire, plus residents driving north or south from the Davison, to or from I-75. Hopefully, this blight will be cleared and replaced with creative landscaping, signs with arrows indiciating nearby amenities such as aforementioned parks, schools, bus routes, etc…Perhaps some pleasant senior-citizen housig since the area is near a half-dozen bus lines. So many, many possibilities in the 48212 area of Northeast Detroit. One more forgotten area is the Village of Colonel Norris(second superintendent of Yellowstone Park)on Mt.Elliott@E.Nevada, north of E.Davison, also in “The 48212.”

Are they also out stocking trucks with provisions when they HV downtime. ?
And if the Detroit demand is so strong come spring/ summer 2017 then theoretically these food trucks shld b very industrious n busy.
Or is this a cool place to hang out n say I work on a food truck n don’t like wearing food gloves….?
What’s the profit ability for the owners of park.?
Picnic tables n paper products….?

Comment on MAPS: How Detroit’s Population Density Stacks Up Against 12 Cities Around The World by Paul Martinsky http://www.dailydetroit.com/2017/03/15/population-density-detroit-12-cities/#comment-22262 Thu, 16 Mar 2017 09:45:08 +0000 http://www.dailydetroit.com/?p=34800#comment-22262 Hamtramck 48212 is the most densely populated area in the state of Michigan. If the City of Detroit were as densely populated as Hamtramck, the population of Detroit would be near two million rather than 670,000. There was a time when twenty streetcar lines connected numerous densely poplated neighborhoods throughout the city. The old Baker Streetcar, that connected Northeast Detroi 48212 to Hamtramck 48212 to Old Poletown(48211)to Eastern Market area to Downtown to Southwest Detroit to Dearborn, was one of the longest routes. So many neighborhoods disappeared after freeway construction. Anyone remember the old St.Cyril Village, north of Harper@Van Dyke. The once densely populated area is now an urban prairie that is becoming an industrial park. The history of St.Cyril can be found at http://www.forgottendetroit.com.
