Even if you can’t make it to the special events, I highly suggest you check out the General Motors African American Art collection.

### **Shiver on the River – Detroit**

If you’re looking for a family friendly event this weekend, I highly suggest going to Belle Isle this Saturday, February 4\. It is the [Shiver on the River](https://www.facebook.com/events/243796352716464/) and it is one of the coolest events that happen on Belle Isle.

There are events going on all over the park on Saturday. It really just depends on what you feel like going to.

Grab some breakfast at the Belle Isle Conservancy will be hosting a pancake breakfast at 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. The breakfast will be held in the Flynn Pavilion. There will be pancakes, sausage, coffee, and juice. Adults are $8 and children are $6.

The Casino will have activities and entertainment throughout the day. The Aquarium will have a fire to roast marshmallows.

There will be an ice rescue demonstration at 2:00 p.m. at the Coast Guard Station.

Shiver on the River will start at 10:00 a.m and will go until 3:00 p.m. Don’t forget that you will need a [recreation passport](http://www.michigan.gov/dnr/0,4570,7-153-10365%5F55798---,00.html?ref=dailydetroit.com) to get onto Belle Isle.

### **Dhamaal 2017:** **Detroit’s Bollywood FusionDance Competition – Detroit**

I love watching dance performances. I am generally in awe of great dancers. (This is probably because I am not that great of a dancer.) So when I saw this event I knew I had to add it to the City 5 this weekend.

This competition will be made up of dance teams from around the country. They are performing dances that take Bollywood dances and combines them with Western dance.

Dhamaal is a non-profit intercollegiate South Asian dance competition. They have joined the North American Bollywood Fusion Circuit to bring the competition to Detroit.

[Tickets](https://www.eventbrite.com/e/dhamaal-2017-detroits-bollywood-fusion-dance-competition-tickets-29708703532?aff=fb&ref=dailydetroit.com) for Dhamaal are $15 for adults, $12 for students, $10 for seniors and children under 10

A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Living Arts Detroit.

Dhamaal will be held on Saturday, February 4 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.

*Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts 350 Madison Street Detroit, MI 48226*

### **Animal Tracking on Your Next Winter Hike – Detroit**

Have you ever wondered what type of animals are making those tracks when you are taking nature walks?

The DNR [Outdoor Recreation Center](https://www.facebook.com/events/1667961366829947/) will be holding a class on how to track animals in the winter.

You’ll be able to make a track casting, and will be able to bring it home.

The class is from 10:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Admission to the Outdoor Adventure Center is $5 for adults, $3 for seniors and children (2-12)

*DNR Outdoor Adventure Center is located at 1801 Atwater St, Detroit, Michigan 48207*

### **In The Heights – Royal Oak**

I can’t be the only one who is obsessed with Lin-Manuel Miranda. I listen to the Hamilton soundtrack way more than I want to admit. (Let’s just say it is a lot.)

What does Hamilton have to do with In The Heights? It is one Miranda’s earlier musicals.

If you want to see this Tony Award winning musical then you can check it out at Stagecrafters in Royal Oak.

Tickets are $25 per person. You can purchase them [online](http://www.stagecrafters.org/on-stage/main-stage/19-in-the-heights.html?ref=dailydetroit.com).

There are shows February 2-5, and 10-12.

Stagecrafters is located at 415 S. Lafayette in Royal Oak, Michigan 4806
