After months of anticipation, the restaurant [Lovers Only](https://www.loversonlydetroit.com/?ref=dailydetroit.com) is open in the ground level of the 28Grand building in Capitol Park.

The restaurant was opened by Eli Boyer along with Co-Executive Chefs Jennifer Jackson and Justin Tootla.

This is their second restaurant. They opened Voyager in Ferndale last year.

The menu at Lovers Only is made up mostly of hamburgers and sandwiches. There are a couple salads on the menu, but let’s face it the burgers are the main focus here.

Lovers Only also has a curated drink menu. You’ll find a few draft beers, mixed drinks, and non-alcoholic drinks on the menu.

I really love the pink tile behind the little bar. It reminds me of my childhood home.

The dining room itself is pretty sweet. There is a vintage vibe with the globe lights, rounded banquettes, and brass hardware.

With a bit of quirky wallpaper thrown in for good measure. Wild west and cow wallpaper? Why not.

So let’s talk about the food we tried today.

We ordered two burgers, sandwich and shared an order of onion rings. I also tried the Basil Lemonade.

The first burger was the Smash Burger made with beef, American cheese, onion slice, lettuce, with mayo and mustard.

The Burlington is a beef hamburger with dijonnaise, lettuce, cheddar cheese sauce, twice-cooked onions and pickle relish.

The Fast Eddie has loose meat, sharp cheddar, mayo mix and shredded iceberg lettuce.

The Basil Lemonade was refreshing and tart.

The food was good, but we had to wait quite a while to get our order. That was to be expected since it was opening day.

Would I go back? Absolutely. Once they work the kinks out, there’s real potential here.
