When I think about parties of the 1920s I instantly think about *The Great Gatsby* by F. Scott Fitzgerald. The glitz and glam of that era has always fascinated me.

So when I heard about the folks behind the Detroit Gatsby Lawn Party have planned the Spring Soirée for Friday, April 21 I knew I needed to tell our readers about it.

This year the Soirée will be held at the Detroit Boat Club on Belle Isle. Those in attendance will be immersed in the culture of the 1920s. Unlike the actual 1920s you won’t have to worry about this party getting busted up by the Purple Gang or the police.

There will be a strolling dinner and plenty of cocktails. Party goers will get a chance to listen and dance to Paul King and the Rhythm Society Orchestra.

Party goers will also be able to tour the Detroit Boat Club, which in itself is pretty sweet. If you’ve never been inside the DBC you’re in for a real treat.

Per **[Historic Detroit](http://historicdetroit.org/building/detroit-boat-club/?ref=dailydetroit.com)**:

> This building, the DBC’ s sixth home, was designed by Alpheus W. Chittenden and dedicated Aug. 5, 1902\. The Venetian-style clubhouse sits on the site of the club’ s two previous homes — both lost to fires. Looking to avoid a three-peat, this clubhouse was built as one of the earliest structures in the country built entirely of concrete.

Because this is a 1920s party you’ll need to dress to impress. It’s not “black tie” so the fellas don’t need to bring out the penguin suits but they should still be sharply dressed.

Ladies, if you need some ideas on where to find something to wear for the party I suggest the **[Peacock Room](https://www.facebook.com/peacockroom/)** in the Park Shelton. There is also a **[Soirée Shopping Party](https://www.facebook.com/events/1277718838978976/)** at Margaux & Max in Ferndale on Friday, April 7 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.

Tickets for the Detroit Gatsby Spring Soirée are $115 per person. If you want to go to this party, you need to get your **[tickets](http://www.detroitgatsby.org/purchase-tickets/?ref=dailydetroit.com)** quickly. These events always sell out.
