# Here's How To Party It Up At Motor City Pride This Weekend

[Motor City Pride](http://www.motorcitypride.org/?ref=dailydetroit.com) is this Saturday and Sunday in Hart Plaza. This weekend celebration of LGBTQ Pride and the community in Michigan is free to the public, and rivals those in cities across the nation. It’ll be a magnet and safe space for people across the state to come to Detroit and be themselves, whatever your orientation or preferences.

There are a few components to Motor City Pride.

There’s the festival itself, the Miss and Mr. Motor City Pride Pageant, the Balls (Motorball and Kings and Queens Ball), and then of course, it culminated with a parade on Sunday at noon.

First the festival. Entertainment will be sprawled much like Movement was just two weeks ago, with five stages of shows and performances over the next two days. Below, we’ve included a schedule and also included a map above to keep you oriented.

Second, the Miss and Mr. Motor City Pride Pageant on Saturday. Featuring special guest judge Shangela  
along with our other distinguished panel of judges Izaya Cole, Crystal Harding, Michael Christian & Domonique Polo. It’ll be hosted by Chanel Hunter and Jadein Black with performances by Thrustin Bieber & Ani Briated

Third, the balls. There’s Motorball, which benefits the Michigan AIDS Coalition (MAC). MAC is one of Michigan’s oldest non-profit, community-based organizations dedicated to health promotion, harm and risk reduction, HIV and sexually-transmitted disease prevention and education. That’s on mostly on Saturday at St. Andrew’s Hall and the Shelter ([tix here](http://www.motorball.org/get-tickets/?ref=dailydetroit.com)). When you go to the site, you’ll see there’s a Friday party as well.

Then there’s the Kings and Queens Ball at Chene Park on Saturday at 8 p.m. Thelma Houston, Maxine Nightingale, Cheryl Lynn, and Taste of Honey will be performing and it will be hosted by Latrice Royale.

Fourth, the parade. Everything will culminate at the Motor City Pride Parade Sunday noon with outrageous floats, music, and and ridiculously dancing and shaking to the bass. Thousands will gather in the streets for the ultimate block party that will meander along Griswold Street from Fort to Jefferson.

Also, don’t forget to unleash your inner fun person and throw glitter on our hunchback for the 1 p.m. Detroit Drag Showcase on Sunday.

So stay hydrated, have a plan and get excited. Pride is coming to town. The schedule is below.
