# QLINE Streetcar Now Scheduled To Run Past 10 p.m. On Weekends, Because Of Course It Should

As we get nearer to actual service beginning on one of Detroit’s [most anticipated projects](http://www.dailydetroit.com/2016/09/13/60-years-detroit-streetcar-pics-video/) in a long time, the QLINE streetcar, [word is coming through the Freep](http://www.freep.com/story/news/local/michigan/detroit/2016/10/13/qline-hours-detroit-transit/92008582/?ref=dailydetroit.com) that the hours are going to run longer than the originally planned 10 p.m.

- 6 a.m.-11 p.m. Monday through Thursday
- 6 a.m.-midnight Friday
- 8 a.m.-midnight Saturday
- 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Sunday
- Holiday hours are expected to vary, but a schedule has not been released.

Spokespeople in the past have said that the line will be open later on game and event nights.

That said, it’s easy to see how once this thing gets going, it’ll be sensible to run it all the way past 2 a.m. like they do in Toronto or many other cities to handle both end of night bar traffic and service workers.

Although this is a step in the right direction, we need to set the example with projects like the QLINE that we can, in fact, be a 24-hour city.

To go this far and spend all this money without providing the proper service hours seems like a poor choice.

Not to mention, if Detroit wants to actually create more sustainable entertainment traffic as well as the jobs that go with that, we need to set ourselves up in every way possible to not be so game day dependent.
