# Proposed Third And Grand Project In New Center To Have Public Hearing July 14

The same developer – Peter Cummings – that brought in the Whole Foods to the Midtown neighborhood also has his hands in a few other projects.

One of those is Third and Grand – at, well, the intersection of Third Avenue and West Grand Boulevard.

Here’s a rundown on the vitals of the project, announced initially in February and aiming for a groundbreaking later this year with completion in 2018.

- Close to the new Q-Line
- 231 apartment building
- 73% studios at 500 square feet or one bedroom units ranging from 625-925 square feet
- 22% will be two bedrooms at 1,100 square feet, and five percent will be two bedrooms plus a den
- 20,000 square feet of commercial space
- Approximately 350 parking spaces in a structure

The hearing on July 14 at 10:05 a.m. is for the “Brownfield Plan,” which is usually tied to TIF or Tax Increment Financing to [reimburse the costs of bringing parcels of property back to functional use](http://www.degc.org/about-degc/detroit-brownfield-redevelopment-authority-1?ref=dailydetroit.com).
