# Ugly Sweater Lovers Unite: World Record Attempt For Largest Gathering Of Holiday Sweaters Dec. 9

Do you love ugly Christmas or holiday sweaters? Have you ever wanted to be part of a World Record attempt? Here’s your chance.

Here’s the plan. On Saturday, December 9 at 6:30 p.m. in Beacon Park in downtown Detroit the hope is to get together more than 3,473 people to break a nearly two year old world record of the largest “gathering of people wearing holiday sweaters,” as measured by the Guinness Book of World Records.

The record-holding city is currently Lawrence, Kansas. They set the record at Kansas Athletics vs. Montana men’s basketball game on December 19, 2015.

Surely, we can beat Lawrence, Kansas.

It’s being organized by **[UglyChristmasSweater.com](http://www.uglychristmassweater.com/?ref=dailydetroit.com)**, a Walled Lake, Michigan-based online retailer of the ugliest of Christmas and holiday sweaters.

“My brother Mark and I are so excited to potentially bring a Guinness World Records title attempt to the city of Detroit,” said UglyChristmasSweater.com co-owner Fred Hajjar. “We hope the community will embrace the holiday spirit and join us on December 9 at Beacon Park to shatter the previous record.”

Right after, the silent disco at Beacon Park will fire up, there will be food trucks, outdoor firepits and two interactive light installations that are making their U.S. debut from Montreal, Canada.
