If you like your friends feathered, you might want to check out and upcoming bird walk on Belle Isle put on by the DNR and Michigan Operation Freedom Outdoors.

The bird walk will take place on Friday, June 15  from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. The guided birding tour will take you through both wetland and forested habitats in Detroit’s Belle Isle Park.

The bird tour will begin at the parking lot of the Belle Isle Nature Center, located at 176 Lakeside Drive on Belle Isle. From there, there will be a caravan to other points on the island. Binoculars will be available for those needing to borrow them.

You’re going to want to fly when it comes to signing up for this event, because it’s limited to just 20 seats. Call Tom Jones at 734-612-6677 to register.
