Tucked away in the northern end of Macomb County lies the small little country town known as Armada. Little did you know that the mile roads really went that high, but a little north of 32 mile is the cutest downtown that you ever did see – and then some.

Go beyond Chap’s Restaurant and the local coffee shop and suddenly you’re there. With kids flagging you down to park in their lawn, local residents speeding past the traffic in golf carts – you’ve made it to the Armada Fair. Ask an Armadian, and they’ve been waiting for this week the entire year. The 143rd annual Armada Fair is more than just a tradition to many, it’s a celebration, a lifestyle, and week full of all things fun-country living.

If you have yet to check out the Armada Fair, don’t fool yourself into thinking you couldn’t have any fun here. Check out our list below to discover why you should find your way to Armada this week – we’ll save you a seat in the Grand Stand.

1. Cars hitting each other… and more cars hitting each other.

You know that moment you see an accident and you know you shouldn’t look… but you do anyways? Well, you can stop feeling guilty about that at the Armada Fair. Choose between Tuesday’s Bump & Run, Wednesday’s Demolition Derby, or Thursday’s Figure 8 to see for yourselves what happens when a bunch of junkers make a point to smash into each other.

Bet with your friends around you on which car is going to win, and see some of your favorite classic drivers return to have a smashing good time (Keep your eye out for the Gorilla Man). The events each day start at 7 p.m., but make sure to get there in time for a good seat – these events are always a packed house!

2. Good ole’ line-dancin’ country music.

This Monday, August 17, the Armada Fair is featuring country artist Joe Nichols, ready to rock Armada’s socks off with his greatest hits. The man with a memory himself, Nichols has been rocking the country scene since his debut album in 2002.

Known for bringing in some incredible country talent, the Armada Fair doesn’t mess around with it’s musical acts. The last previous years, the fair featured artists such as Dierks Bentley, Kellie Pickler, Rodney Atkins, Little Big Town and many more.

Should you hurry on up and get out there this Monday?
Well, as Joe Nichols himself would say, “yeah.”

3. Northerners doing that whole “rodeo” thing.

If you thought that rodeos were only a southern thing, you’re wrong. Here at the Armada Fair, our riders get down and dirty at the Twisted P Rodeo, the main event on Friday night at 7 p.m. Come check it out to see some buck-wild bulls tossing around some brave humans and see who can make it out in one piece!

Just like the other main events, this event gets crazy so be sure to get there early to grab your crew some seats!

4. All of the carnival things!

The Armada Fair welcomes Big Rock carnival to provide visitors with all of the carnival fun each day of the week. From the tilt-a-whirl to the twirling strawberries  and giant ferris wheel, you can have the ride of your life with a $60 mega ride pass – good for any ride every week during carnival hours.

Check out the list of possible rides and day-pass pricing so you can be sure not to miss out, and as always, don’t forget to grab yourself an elephant ear or giant fluff-ball of cotton candy!

5. Two words: Beer Tent.

And last but not least, the place where you’re welcome to close down the night… or spend your whole day at (no judgement!). With a choice of Bud Light, Budweiser or Shock Top, you can grab yourself a cup or an entire bucket. Typically accompanied by a country cover band, some good line dancing and some electric bull riding, the beer tent is the perfect place to get a little country on

Additional bonus? You can even grab a photo with a Budweiser Clydesdale!
