Whenever my brother comes into town from Denver I will take him to one (or two) of my favorites places in the city.

This visit I  decided to take him to the Fisher Building in New Center.

If you have yet to check out the Fisher Building during the holidays, do so. It is magical.

Since we were already at the Fisher Building, I decided to do a little round up of some of the shopping you will be able to do while you visit this beautiful building.

Let’s get shopping!

1. The Peacock Room

I’m not sure I can find the words to use to describe what a great job Rachel Lutz did putting together The Peacock Room’s flagship store.

This place is simply beautiful. Not to mention the clothes and accessories are divine. If you are looking for a beautiful gown for a swanky New Years Eve party you need to stop into The Peacock Room.

2. Yama

If your fashion sense is more modern and streamlined then you need to check out Rachel Lutz’s other store inside the Fisher.

They had this amazing red coat that caught my eye. Not that I need another red coat, I already have two. I’m just saying, go check Yama out.

Yama is located next to Stella in the main Gallery.

3. Stella

Stella is technically a coffee shop, but they do sell some really cute coffee mugs, tea cups, and water bottles. Plus, there is nothing better than grabbing a hot cup of coffee and sitting in the lobby of the gallery.

Hours: Monday and Tuesday 7:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., Wednesday through Friday 7:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m., Saturday 10:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m., Sunday 12:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m.

3. Detroit Gallery of Contemporary Crafts

The Detroit Gallery of Contemporary Crafts is one of those stores where you never know what you might find. They do have some more limited hours compared to the other stores inside the Fisher, so unfortunately we weren’t able to check it out on the day we visited.

Hours: Monday through Friday 12:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. and Saturday 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. Hours may be extended during the holidays or for shows.

4. The Dendrophile Pop Up Inside Of Workshop

If you are looking for a statement piece of furniture then you need to check out Workshop showroom. Each piece is made from reclaimed wood from Detroit homes.

There is currently a pop up inside of Workshop called Dendrophile. This pop up has all kinds of great gift items for people in your life that love nature and more sustainable items. You will be able to shop at the Dendrophile pop up until February.

Hours: Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. and Saturday 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

5. Pot and Box

Floral designer extraordinaire Lisa Waud has opened the new Pot and Box store inside the Fisher Building. We were at the Fisher on the day of the grand opening, but we were just a few hours too early to see it.

Judging by her previously awesome work, I can’t wait to check it out the next time I am at the Fisher.

Hours: Tuesday through Friday 12:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. and Saturday 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

6. The Fashion Place

There should be something said for the stores that have been in the Fisher Building for years. The Fashion Place has called the Fisher Building home for 35 years.

This cute women’s boutique is tucked away next to the main elevators.

Hours: Monday through Friday 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. and Saturday 11:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m.

7. Pure Detroit

What can I say about Pure Detroit that hasn’t already been said. Pure Detroit has been a mainstay in the city since it opened in 1998. Now it has grown to five brick and mortar locations and one pop up at The Packard Plant.

Pure Detroit has a pretty solid selection of Detroit authors. My top book pick for the season? Dan Austin’s Greetings from Detroit: Historic Postcards From The Motor City.

Hours: Monday – Saturday 9:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. and Sunday 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

8. Vera Jane

You know those really hip put together women that you see walking down the street? They probably bought their cool sun glasses at Vera Jane.

This store carries women’s accessories like purses, sun glasses, and jewelry. But they also carry Korean sheet masks, body products, candles and lingerie.

Hours: Monday through Saturday 11:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.

8.5: Santa!

Parents, Santa will be visiting the Fisher Building on Saturday, December 16 from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.

If you are looking for a great backdrop of pictures, this is a great option. The best part? The pictures are free since you bring your own camera, and it is encouraged you do so.
