Oakland County Deputy Sheriff Eric Overall, a 22-year veteran of that force, was killed on Thanksgiving morning while trying to stop a suspect as part of a police chase. He was trying to deploy stop stick and the suspect deliberately ran over the officer, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s office.

Now people are trying to raise money for his family through a bake sale.

All proceeds from the bake sale at the Oakland County Animal Shelter and Pet Adoption Center Christmas Bazaar and Bake Sale will go to support Overall’s family.

The event will take place 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16 at the shelter’s new location at 1200 N. Telegraph Road, Building 42 East, in Pontiac.

According to a press release, the Oakland County Animal Shelter and Pet Adoption Center Christmas Bazaar and Bake Sale will host more than 30 local crafters and businesses selling a variety of items that include Christmas ornaments, welding art, wooden art pieces, essential oils, pet-themed items, and more. In addition, dogs and cats will be available for adoption.
