Bedrock over the weekend released new renderings of the latest design for the Hudson’s site tower, showing a 912-foot stepped glass tower that would be 200 feet taller than the Renaissance Center and make it one of the tallest buildings between the skyscraper meccas of Chicago and New York City.

As we previously reported, the new tower design is about 100 feet taller than previous designs, topping out at 62 stories. It sits on a 14-story block-shaped podium, with construction expected to take about four or five years.
Jer and I talk about the new renderings on the podcast. Jer thinks the podium, as it’s called, reminds him of the work of Minoru Yamasaki, who designed the former World Trade Center twin towers in New York, plus Detroit’s One Woodward building. I say the tower reminds me of the new World Trade Center in its extensive, dramatic use of glass and what it’s likely to do with light.
