I still can’t believe that this is the last weekend of August.

There is plenty of fun things to do this weekend, so go out and have fun.

Garlic & Music Festival

This three day festival is going to be great for those of us who love garlic. If you’re a vampire or on a first date maybe stay away from Campus Maritus.

Bring your appetite because there will be plenty of garlicky foods to choose from.

There will be two stages with live music performances, a kid zone with bounce houses, and tons of games.

Hours: Friday 11:00 a.m-11:00 p.m., Saturday 12:00 p.m.-11:00 p.m., Sunday 12:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m.

Detroit Boat Racing

Boats! Boats! Boats!

The three day Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers HydroFest will take place along the Detroit Riverfront.

This weekend is the 101st year for the hydroplane race. It seems crazy that people have been going at high speeds down the Detroit River for over a century, but it’s the truth.

Friday will be dedicated to testing and qualifying. Come out on Saturday to see these racers vie for the President’s Cup, and on Sunday there will be a battle for the APBA Gold Cup.

There will be free admission on Friday between 1:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m.

Tickets can range from $10 up to $200 per person, so really there is a level for anyone at various spots along the east side riverfront. You can purchase tickets here.

Satori Circus: The Choir

Get ready for some a cappella in one of Detroits oldest buildings.

Satori Circus will perform 30 years worth of original songs at the historic St. Albertus Church on Saturday night.

I’m generally not a fan of clowns, but Satori Circus is ok in my book.

Suggested donation is $15 at the door.

Doors open at 8:00 p.m. and the performance starts promptly at 8:30 p.m.

St. Albertus is located at 4231 St. Aubin Street  Detroit, MI 48207

Soul Fest 2017

This years Soul Fest is a who’s who of Detroit Soul, Motown, and Northern Soul.

The night will be filled with live music with performances by Melvin Davis, Pat Lewis, Carolyn Crawford, The Undisputed Truth and so many more musicians.

Ticket are $15 in advance or $20 at the door.

Soul Fest will take place on Sunday, August 27. Doors open at 7:00 p.m.

The Marble Bar is located at 1501 Holden Street Detroit, Michigan 48208

End of Summer Pierogi Pop Up

Seeing as it is the final weekend of August, I needed to include the Pierogi Pop Up at Nancy Whiskey’s.

Part of me doesn’t even want to tell you about this pop up, because I want all of these pierogi for myself.

The pop up will have numerous pierogi offerings like your everyday potato and cheese, but will also offer the Mac-A-Rogi which is a three cheese blend of sweet and spicy cheese sauce with macaroni inside a pierogi.

You will also be able to pick up zapiekanka (open faced sandwiches), Dill Pickled Soup, Strawberry Soup, cucumbers and Onions with dill, and desserts.

Basically come to Nancy Whiskey’s hungry. You can find the entire menu here.

Hours: 7:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m.

Nancy Whiskey is located at 2644 Harrison Street Detroit, Michigan 48216
