Do you feel like December snuck up on us? Because I do. I’m still eating Halloween candy to be honest. This weekend is filled with all things shopping, drinking, and holiday merriment. It might not feel like December this weekend, but lets make the most of it.
Detroit Urban Craft Fair — Detroit
Head over to the Masonic Temple this weekend for the 11th Annual Detroit Urban Craft Fair. This is a three-day event, that will be filled with over 100 vendors that will be selling their handmade goods.
The thing that I love about the DUCF is that there is so much cool stuff there. If you don’t want to buy something from a big box store this is one of the coolest craft fairs to go to.
Here are a few of the cool vendors you will find this weekend. Do you have someone in your life who works with computers? Check out Circuit Breaker Labs for some fun pieces made from circuit boards. Love knitwear? Check out Happy Hookers Detroit. (I really love the name, it makes me chuckle.) If you know of someone who loves vintage maps head over to Salt Labs for some home ware goodies. I don’t know about you but I have a soft spot for paper products and for screen printing and Worthwhile Paper fits the bill.
There will be special take and make crafts on Friday night.
Admission: Friday night will be $10 per person. Half of the admission will be donated to the Living Arts a nonprofit organization offering arts education to youth in Southwest Detroit.
Admission for Saturday and Sunday is $1 per person. Children 12 and under are free.
Hours: Friday 6 p.m.- 9 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. — 8 p.m., Sunday 11 a.m.- 6 p.m.

Krampus Night 6 Not So Holiday Charity Benefit Extravaganza — Detroit
Have you been a bad girl or boy this year? Well, Krampus will be at the Tangent Gallery on Friday night, and he will be handing out spankings (and candy). Don’t be afraid, it’s all in good fun.
In reality the Krampus Night is a toy and food drive, it’s a bit demented but it is also a whole lot of fun.
The highlight of the evening is the Christmahanakwanza Variety Show Spectacular. It is an unrehearsed variety show that features performances by Lushes Lamoan, Satori Circus, Sofia Syntaxx, Bootsie La Fontaine, Scott Dambacher and Konrad Lee, Lounge singer Extraordinaire.
There will also be an art exhibition, holiday bazaar, full bar, silent auction, and a special surprise.
Like I mentioned before, the event organizers will be collecting new unwrapped toys and noon perishable foods. The toys will be delivered to Toys For Tots, and the food will benefit Burners Without Boarders Detroit.
Admission: $10 if you bring an unwrapped toy or three can goods. $15 if you come empty-handed. (As an extra incentive to bring a toy or can goods you will receive a $5 coupon off $25 in the Krampus Bazaar.)
This is an 18 and over event.

Noel Night — Detroit
This is the big daddy of events for this weekend. Saturday night will be the 44th year for Noel Night.
What is there not to love about Noel Night? It is filled with live musical performances, art, theater, shopping, food, there is something for everyone to do.
With over 100 different venues it is hard to see everything, but in reality just go and have a good time. There are free shuttles to get your from point A to B. Here is the map of the venues as well as the master schedule for all performances.
We’ve done a short over view of this year’s Noel Night. Instead of highlighting the big events (which are great), I decided to look at some of the off the beaten path venues.
Admission: Free
Hours: 5 p.m.- 10 p.m.
Noel Night encompasses locations throughout Midtown. There are venues as far South as Edmund, North of I94, East of St. Antoine, and West of 3rd Avenue.
The Lodge — Detroit
Head over to the Eastern in Eastern Market on Saturday or Sunday for a fun holiday market.
There will be numerous vendors selling some great items. Detroit Scroll will be there, so now would be a great time to pick up some of those amazing scroll items. Also if you need an amazing pair of leather boots Wolverine 1,000 Miles Collection will also be there. (I’ve had my eye on them for a while now.)
There will be a few food trucks there if you get hungry. You’ll have a choice of Café Cortina, The Nosh Pit, and Bigalora Wood Fired Food Truck.
If you need a cocktail they will also have a bar.

Repeal Day Pre-Party — Detroit
If you can’t make it out on Monday, December 5 for anniversary of Repeal Day, head over to Two Way Inn for a Repeal Day pre-party.
The Two Way is the oldest bar in Detroit, so it is only fitting to celebrate alcohol at this historical landmark.
They will have a question-and-answer session with Prohibition Detroit. There will also be some interesting memorabilia to check out.
