Hello lovely readers!

This weekend is going to be pretty spectacular in terms of things to do around town. In fact I had to add two bonus events because I couldn’t make up my mind.

My brother is in town from Denver, so I know we will be out and about the city this week. There has been so much that has happened around the city since the last time he visited.

I hope you have a great weekend!

Pot + Box Grand Opening In The Fisher Building

I have been a huge fan of the botanical design work that Lisa Waud has done in the past few years with her business Pot + Box. She is probably best known for the work she did at the Flower House art installation in 2015.

She is now opening a brick and mortar location for Pot + Box inside the Fisher Building.  The store will be located on the north side of the Fisher’s Arcade.

The grand opening of Pot + Box will be on Friday, December 8 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Come check out the new spot and have a floral cocktail to celebrate Waud’s hard work.

The Fisher Building is located at 3011 W. Grand Boulevard Suite 130 Detroit, Michigan 48202

Belle Isle Holiday Stroll

Head across the MacArthur Bridge this Friday night for the 35th Annual Belle Isle Holiday Stroll.

It’s not very often that you get to visit the Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory, Belle Isle Aquarium, Dossin Great Lakes Museum, the Belle Isle Nature Center, and the Detroit Boat Club at night so do it up.

There will be cider, donuts, marshmallow roasting and a lot of free family fun. You can find all of the details on the Facebook event.

The Belle Isle Holiday Stroll will take place between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.

Ugly Sweater Record Breaking and Silent Disco at Beacon Park

Grab one of your ugliest holiday sweaters and head over to Beacon Park this Saturday, December 9.

We wrote a post about the people who are trying to break the Guinness Book of World Records for the largest “gathering of people wearing holiday sweaters.”

Come for the record breaking, but stay for the Silent Disco.

The whole thing starts at 6:30 p.m.

Beacon Park is located at 1901 Grand River Avenue Detroit, Michigan 48226

Palmer Park WinterFest

I’m sensing a theme this weekend, parks.

This Sunday, December 10 the People for Palmer Park will be hosting the Palmer Park WinterFest at the Log Cabin.

This free family friendly event will have things for children of all ages. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be spending time at the Log Cabin, there will be horse and carriage rides, and there will be crafts for kids to do. Warm up with some hot cider or hot chocolate.

There will also be displays about Kwanzaa, Hanukkah and Christmas on display.

The Log Cabin will be decorated by numerous groups as part of a friendly competition.

The People for Palmer Park will also be collecting new mittens, gloves and scarves fro Mittens for Detroit.

Palmer Park WinterFest will take place between 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.

Palmer Park is located at 910 Merrill Plaisance Detroit, MI 48203

Detroit Santa Speedo Run

It’s not very often that you have a venn diagram where Santa, running, and Speedos have something in common. However, this Sunday those circles will overlap for the Detroit Santa Speedo Run.

We have a post with all the details for the event, so I’m going to send you over there to read about it.

Here’s what you need to know. There is no entrance fee to join in the run. They will be collecting money for The Greening of Detroit and the Ruth Ellis Center so do give generously.

Drinking starts at 12:00 p.m. and the run starts at 2:00 p.m.

Briggs Detroit is located at 519 E. Jefferson Avenue Detroit, Michigan 48226
