Welcome to February! I’m hoping that Punxsutawney Phil does not see his shadow this week. I know we’ve had a pretty tame winter so far, but I am ready for spring to arrive.

Dhamaal 2017: Detroit’s Bollywood FusionDance Competition – Detroit

I love watching dance performances. I am generally in awe of great dancers. (This is probably because I am not that great of a dancer.) So when I saw this event I knew I had to add it to the City 5 this weekend.

This competition will be made up of dance teams from around the country. They are performing dances that take Bollywood dances and combines them with Western dance.

Dhamaal is a non-profit intercollegiate South Asian dance competition. They have joined the North American Bollywood Fusion Circuit to bring the competition to Detroit.

Tickets for Dhamaal are $15 for adults, $12 for students, $10 for seniors and children under 10

A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Living Arts Detroit.

Dhamaal will be held on Saturday, February 4 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.

In The Heights – Royal Oak

I can’t be the only one who is obsessed with Lin-Manuel Miranda. I listen to the Hamilton soundtrack way more than I want to admit. (Let’s just say it is a lot.)

What does Hamilton have to do with In The Heights? It is one Miranda’s earlier musicals.

If you want to see this Tony Award winning musical then you can check it out at Stagecrafters in Royal Oak.

Tickets are $25 per person. You can purchase them online.

There are shows February 2-5, and 10-12.
