It is hard to believe that we are already coming up to the end of June. Summer has officially started this week, and there are a bunch of fun things happening around Metro Detroit. So without further ado, let’s get started.

Good Cakes and Bakes Second Annual Ice Cream Social – Good Cakes and Bakes

We love Good Cakes and Bakes and when we saw the bakery was holding an ice cream social this weekend we knew we had to include it in our round up.

If you have never heard of Good Cakes and Bakes here is the run down for you. It is located on Livernois between 7 Mile and 8 Mile in the Avenue of Fashion. They offer gourmet cakes and baked goods. They use all organic products, and offer vegan baked goods as well.

Come out and try some of the new ice cream flavors they will be offering. This is a community event, so everyone is invited to attend.

McClary Bros. Third Birthday Party – Farmington

McClary Bros. is best known for the old fashioned drinking vinegars they produce. They will be hosting a shindig this Saturday June 25th at their tasting room in Farmington. Along with celebrating their 3rd birthday, they are debuting a new flavor of drinking vinegar Michigan Saskatoon. Michigan Saskatoon is a part of their “Forgotten Flavors” limited edition flavors, which highlight some of the unique crops that Michigan has.

There will be other small businesses that will be at the McClary Bros. tasting room like, Beau Bien Fine Foods, Norma G’s Food Truck, and Motor City Popcorn. Part of the proceeds raised will go towards Foodlab Detroit.

You can find the music line up and an entire breakdown of the weekend festivities over here.

Corrado Parducci Walking Tour – Guardian Building Pure Detroit

We have written about the free weekly tours that Pure Detroit does of the Guardian and Fisher Buildings, but this one is different. This is a walking tour around downtown that highlights the work of Corrado Parducci. Parducci was responsible for a good majority of the ornamentation on the buildings downtown.

I could spend countless hours writing about Parducci, but we don’t have time for that here. This is what you need to know. The tour will be conducted by historic preservationist and urban planner Michael Boettcher. Those on the tour will check out the Penobscot Building, Guardian Building, Buhl Building, St. Alouysius just to name a few. I suggest wearing comfortable shoes!

The tour is free, and to sign up just go to the Pure Detroit store located in the lobby of the Guardian Building.

The tour starts at 3:00 p.m. – 500 Griswold St, Detroit, Michigan 48226
