We do some crazy things for love. There is nothing like gorgeous classic cars and romance to rev our engines. More than 150 couples made a pit stop at the Hagerty drive station in the Central Medical Imaging parking lot during this year’s Woodward Dream Cruise to renew their vows inside their classic cars.

Gordon and Geri Rinschler of Birmingham, MI renewed their vows in the very same 1930 Ford Model A that they drove to get married 47 years ago. Another man brought a picture of his deceased wife to the ceremony. The picture rode shotgun.

The officiant’s script was an ode to car puns and as funny as the ceremony itself.

When you first joined hands in marriage, you had no idea where the road would take you.

Today the road has taken you to Woodward in the car you love. What better time to renew your vows?

Do you reaffirm your love for each other?

Will you cherish each other in breakdowns and joyrides, on routes boring and scenic, through rust and shining chrome, and forsaking all others, be faithful to each other as long as you both shall cruise?

And that concludes your wedding vow renewals at Woodward. Please celebrate with a kiss and keep cruising!

Hagerty is the world’s leading insurance provider for classic cars, trucks and motorcycles. The Dream Cruise, which started as a fundraiser for a soccer field in Ferndale in 1995, brought together more than 40,000 classic cars and more than a million visitors to Detroit’s Woodward Avenue. It currently takes place along a 16-mile stretch of Detroit.
