A tipster sent us photos of work underway at what some are calling the second Campus Martius Park.

DTE Energy announced the 1.5 acre park back in June. It’s located on the west side of downtown Detroit on Grand River Avenue across from the historic G.A.R. building that’s home to the hot restaurants of Republic and Parks & Rec.

They are pouring the foundations for the buildings (especially the restaurant) located at the top of the rendering we’ve included below before the cold weather sets in so as the park can be ready in 2017.

The eatery will have three movable walls that can open during the warmer seasons, and as we previously reported, it will offer:

  • A free-flowing design for the bar and eating areas that can hold up to 75 guests
  • A 735 square-foot roof deck for a panoramic view of the city
  • A sustainable, green roof space that is designed to conserve and collect runoff water
  • A theatrical, upward cantilever roof that extends over the sidewalk for unique flair and to pay homage to Detroit’s historic structures

The park will be programmed by the Downtown Detroit Partnership, the same organization that handles Campus Martius and other Central Business District parks.
