Sometimes, it’s the simple things. Two Michigan startup businesses, one from Grand Rapids and one from Detroit, are two of the three finalists in the February Championship Round of the Dream Big America National Pitch Competition.

The three startups competed in a Dream Big America round before the Feb. 27 episode in which they pitched their businesses. Each business won its respective round. During the Finals Round, a spokesperson for each startup gave a two-minute pitch of their company’s concept to the national Dream Big America audience.

The show, based in Kansas City, Missouri, is broadcast weekly on the Doug Stephan Good Day Show. Audio recordings of each of the pitches can be found on the Dream Big America website.

The companies that competed in the Finals Round include:

The Wine Chiller, a Detroit-based company, offers a bottle holder solution to keep wine bottles upright in coolers. The Wine Chiller was invented by Bob Gray.

Flush Down is an automatic toilet seat that closes the seat and lid after every use. Founder and CEO Tom Reminga presented the startup at the contest. Flush Down is based in Grand Rapids.

Kill The Cup, America’s largest reusable cup campaign, is located in San Diego. The company is dedicated to decreasing the amount of waste disposable cups and bottles create. Kill The Cup’s Chief Environmental Optimist, Drew Beal, pitched for the business.

“This month’s competition showcased nine impressive inventors and entrepreneurs. We are now down to the final three, and America will need to decide who will be the February Dream Big America Champion!” said the show’s host, Doug Stephan.

Listeners and supporters across the country have the opportunity to vote for their favorite startup by visiting the Dream Big America website or by texting DBA to 612-22-DREAM (612-223-7326).

Voting ends March 4 at 5pm EST. The startup that gets the highest number of votes will become the Dream Big America Champion and receive support from the Dream Big America sponsors.
