The Regional Transportation Authority of Southeast Michigan (RTA) is finally ready to unveil their plan to connect South East Michigan. On May 31, 2016 the RTA will host a public unveiling of the master plan at Lawrence Technological University in Southfield at 10:00 am.
The RTA has been working on the master plan for over a year. The plan has been created after extensive research, road studies, public meetings, and civic planning. It includes plans for Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), possible routes, how it would work with the Q-Line/M1 Rail (which, according to agreement, will eventually become part of the RTA) and cross-county connectors.
After the presentation there will be education sessions with members of the RTA. This will give those in attendance an in-depth look at all of the different aspects of the master plan. The RTA was created by the Michigan Legislature to work on a way to get Macomb, Oakland, Washtenaw, and Wayne Counties better connected by public transportation. This is important as there is a millage request coming to fund more transit in across the region, and it’s expected those details will be revealed then, as well as what the plan is to do with that money.
