The Detroit Garment Group Guild (DG3), a non-profit dedicated to providing education and opportunities for Detroit’s fashion community, is now accepting applications for its 2015 Designer in Residence program.

In the program, participants will have access to private offices, industrial sewing machines, design software, mentors, and business education opportunities. The purpose of the program is to walk fashion professionals from concept and development to sales and finished products.

Participants can expect to receive legal guidance, sales support, branding support, and assistance with product line development. In addition to furnished offices and industrial equipment, the program offers free wi-fi, copying and scanning services, and access to a conference room for presentations and meetings.

DG3 welcomes established and aspiring designers to apply. Candidates will be selected based on portfolio, seriousness, merit, and drive. The Designer in Residence program only accepts a maximum of 12 candidates for the one-year term. However, candidates will have the option of staying for a second year.

The application closes April 30, 2015. To access the application, click here. Accepted applicants must pay $250 on the first of each month during their time in the program.
