Grand Prix fans will get a free taste of this weekend’s Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix in downtown Detroit tomorrow evening.

(Wednesday, May 27). The Quicken Loans Grand Prix Street Fest powered by Chevrolet will take place at Campus Martius from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

There is no admission cost, and fans of all ages are encouraged to join the festivities. Drivers competing in the Grand Prix will be present to sign autographs and meet fans.

Drivers expected at the Street Fest include:

  • Will Power, 2014 season champion winner from Team Penske
  • Simon Pagenaud from Team Penske
  • Josef Newgarden, the American rising star who secured his first win this series
  • Eric Curran, TUDOR United SportsCar Championship driver
  • Arie Luyendyk Jr., runner up on “The Bachelorette” and driver from the SPEED Energy Formula Off-Road series

Additionally, Luyendyk will give a running demonstration in the Quicken Loans truck. He will be racing in Quicken Loans colors again this year. He has high hopes of making the podium in this year’s Grand Prix.

Visitors can also enjoy a closeup view of the race cars on display. Throughout the Street Fest, live music, some of which will be be performed by The Infatuations, will keep the atmosphere fresh and relaxed. Great food will also be available for hungry stomachs.

“The Quicken Loans Street Fest powered by Chevrolet is a great event to rev everyone’s engines for this weekend’s Grand Prix,” said Bud Denker, Event Chairman of the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix. “We will have virtually all of the elements of the Grand Prix downtown at Campus Martius Park from race cars, to drivers, to demonstrations and fun activities for the family. It will be a great evening to offer a free sneak preview of what’s in store at the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix this weekend.”

As Street Fest draws to a close, “Slow Roll,” a local bicycle group, will ride from Campus Martius to Belle Isle. Over 1,500 riders are expected to participate in the journey.
