With great spirit, Friends of the Alger Theater are hosting a movie showing inside the Alger Theater for the first time in over 25 years. Classic horror/humor flick, Young Frankenstein will be shown, and brews will be served, sponsored by Motor City Brewing Works this Sunday, June 14 at 5:30 p.m. with doors opening at 4:30 p.m.

Beyond just a great time with friends, the night will mark true progress for the people of Detroit, and the kind of down to earth culture our city denotes.

The Alger Theater is one of only two remaining intact and unchanged neighborhood theaters in the city of Detroit. After suffering from socioeconomic changes and coping with a string of alternative sources of support, The Alger Theater was purchased in 1986 by Friends of the Alger Theater. Friends of Alger Theater is a nonprofit community-based organization composed of neighborhood residents and businesses dedicated to preserving the Alger Theater.

They have developed programming for the community, while raising funds to refurbish and reopen the theater. This Sunday marks a true accomplishment.

Make sure you become a member so you can go! Visit http://www.algertheater.org/give/ for complete details on membership.

Your donation gets free admission for yourself and one friend for all four Sunday events in June, July, August and September. Ages 17 and over for admission; 21 and over with ID for alcohol.

The Alger Theater is a theater located at 16451 East Warren Avenue in the MorningSide neighborhood of Detroit, Michigan.

There’s a complimentary parking lot shuttle for the Brew & View from St. Matthews Church, 6021 Whittier at Harper, provided by Valet Professionals 313-333-3345. Parking Shuttle begins at 4:30 p.m.
