Detroit Animal Care and Control (DACC) is hiring up to 13 new staff to expand its field service operations and shelter support services.

According to the city, that’s almost double the current staff and their hope is that it willl improve response times, improve shelter operations, and expand hours at their 7401 Chrysler Drive shelter, where they’ve recently moved.

The Animal Care and Control center recently hired a new Animal Care Administrator, Kelly McLaughlin.

“The addition of Animal Care Technicians and Animal Control Officers to Field Services allows our division to focus on the city’s primary issues: owned dogs not properly contained and assisting the Detroit Police Department and other first responder teams with humanely managing animals on scene,” said Melissa Miller, Director of Detroit Animal Care and Control.

As many as 13 positions are open for applications; they are as follows:

  • One (1) Assistant Director
  • One (1) Live Release Coordinator
  • Two to three (2-3) Animal Control Officers
  • Eight (8) Animal Care Technicians
