The newest addition to Detroit’s beer scene is the Eastern Market Brewing Company.

A project that’s the brainchild of Dayne Bartscht, Devin Drowley, and Paul Hoskin, the loft-like space at 2515 Riopelle Street in Detroit is open and inviting.

Having visited the space just as work began last year, the transformation is amazing.

They kept the structure of the building, but really added just the right amount of design touch to make the space special.

There were just a few beers on tap on Thursday night for the Eastern Market After Market event, but they were tasty.

They had a Belgian Pale Ale, Hefeweizen, an IPA, an Oktoberfest and a Stout.

The plant feature wall is a nice touch. I hear those iron rail details above are from the roof of old City Hall that used to stand near Campus Martius, demolished in 1961.

Also a nice tough, the giant windows that open on to the street. The place feels very indoor/outdoor.

Being located so close to the Detroit City Distillery, Vivio’s, Cutter’s, Bert’s and other options, you’ll be able to make a night of it in Eastern Market even on nights when there isn’t a special event.

Hours are Tuesday – Thursday, 12 – 10 p.m.; Friday, 12 p.m. -Midnight; Saturday 10 a.m. – Midnight; Sunday, 12 p.m. – 8 p.m. and closed on Mondays.
