This past month has been devastating for those who have been affected by Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, Jose and now Maria.

Hurricane Maria is a Category 4 Hurricane, and it hit Puerto Rico on Wednesday, September 20. According to reports the island is currently 100% without power.

There will be a fundraiser to benefit the people of Puerto Rico at Louiza in The Belt. There is no cover charge, but you can donate money during the event.

The benefit is being hosted by Chicago-based artist Carlos Rolón/Dzine, Library Street Collective, and the team behind the Standby and the Skip.

Local DJ’s will have access to Fanta Records library to spin music on both Friday and Saturday night.

Proceeds will be donated to ConPRmetidos. The money will be allocated to support families in immediate need of food, shelter and water.

The benefit will take place on Friday, September 22 and Saturday, September 23 from 8:00 p.m. until 2:00 a.m. on both nights.

The Belt is located at 1234 Library Street (between Broadway and Library Street, linking Gratiot and Grand River).
