Rachel Ray and The Rite Aid Foundation’s KidCents program has a surprise on national TV yesterday.

Ray announced a $25,000 donation to the Downtown Boxing Gym Youth Program from the foundation. In addition, they also are providing the DBG Youth Program with $5,000 in school, office, first aid and cleaning supplies.

According to the gym, The Downtown Boxing Gym Youth Program currently serves 110 students between the ages of 5 and 18, with more than 600 on a waiting list. To date, the organization has seen a 100 percent high school graduation rate and most of those students go on to college.

“Thanks to the generous donation provided to us by The Rite Aid Foundation we are able to help our members learn, grow and realize their full potential,” said Khali Sweeney, Founder of Downtown Boxing Gym Youth Program. “Partners like The Rite Aid Foundation and Rachael Ray are helping us positively impact each and every child we have the opportunity to work with, promoting our children’s long-term health and the stability of the overall community.”

In Michigan, Rite Aid employs more than 4,300 at its 274 stores and distribution center, including 183 associates at its 11 stores in the city of Detroit. KidCents was developed by The Rite Aid Foundation to provide Rite Aid customers an opportunity to do even more to help the kids in the communities Rite Aid serves.

The money will be used to help fix their roof. Below is the show segment. It may not be so friendly with mobile browsers, so if it doesn’t work watch the video here.
